Our Environmetal Strategy
At Bunzl we see our commitment to reducing our impact on the environment as a key area of our corporate responsibility. From increasing recycling programmes to reducing fuel usage to sourcing green products: we're constantly looking for new ways to improve our performance.
Our environmental strategy is three pronged:
Operating to Reduce our Environmental Impact
Our environmental programmes have been in place for a number of years and we continually review and seek to improve our performance in this area. Bunzl plc is included in the FTSE4Good Index.
Our key areas of focus are:
Bunzl Australasia also gained national accreditation to ISO14001. This is the most well-known environmental operating standard and is certified by an external certification authority. Gaining accreditation means that Bunzl has implemented and maintained an environmental management system, which provides for continuous improvement in environmental performance.
Environmentally Friendly Service Offering
A fundamental part of Bunzl's offering to customers is our expertise and in-depth product knowledge, coupled with the ability to consolidate the procurement and delivery of a broad range of non-food consumable products. This service can cut the environmental impact as it can reduce the number of deliveries within a company's total supply chain, as well as decrease the amount of invoices and payments.
Bunzl's core service offering can help customers to reduce fuel emissions, paper usage and other energy requirements. Further, a consolidated invoice allows better monitoring of the use of consumables and therefore can reduce duplication and waste.
Environmentally Friendly Products
We recognise that our customers want to know about environmentally friendly products and how they can participate in positive initiatives around sustainability. At Bunzl we see our role as providing a range of alternative environmentally friendly products and helping our customer make informed choices without bias towards any specific solution.
This could be through products manufactured from renewable, recycled and/or biodegradable materials. The process starts with clearly defining the product's sustainability characteristics with a clear and easy to use series of symbols that operate across the group.
